SOUNDS OF NATURE

"Sounds of Nature" is a collaborative body of work that delves into the benefits of spending time outdoors. By exploring the concepts of both green and blue spaces, this project illustrates the mental health and well-being advantages gained from spending time in nature. Research has shown that natural environments serve as a sanctuary for many, providing a sense of comfort and tranquillity. This work, through a blend of imagery and poetry, seeks to capture and convey these themes, showcasing how the serenity and beauty of the natural world can enhance our overall quality of life.

The term greenspace is used to describe areas of vegetated land within an urban area. These spaces can include parks, gardens and woods. Similarly, the term blue space is used to describe areas near bodies of water, including beaches, bays and rivers.

Access to these spaces has been proven to improve health and wellbeing, with an estimation of 120-150 minutes per week being an optimal period of time to boost physical and mental wellbeing. These spaces have also been proven to elevate stress and improve our overall mood.
